Chancellor’s Academic Fellows
The Chancellor’s Academic Fellows program is intended to assist mid-career and senior faculty who have an interest in pursuing administrative roles in higher education. The program allows faculty to explore the work of senior administration while continuing their teaching and research.
Fellows can participate throughout an academic year with the Chancellor, Provost, or Vice Chancellor. Beginning in August, fellows will spend time with senior administrators at the university exploring the work and challenges of administration and
All applicants must be senior faculty members (associate or above) who have been at the University of Arkansas for at least three years. Applicants should be able to demonstrate an interest and talent for administration. A maximum of three fellows will be selected.
How to Apply
Interested faculty members should submit a letter of interest and current curriculum vitae. Faculty applications should also be endorsed by the faculty’s chair or head, and chair or head applications should be endorsed by the dean. The letter of interest should address the candidate’s experience and expertise relative to the chosen research area, as well as suggested strategies to advance the selected area forward. Criteria for Selection
Selection of the Chancellor’s Fellows will be based upon the merit and need of the proposal submitted as part of the application.
A stipend of $5,000, per fall and spring semester will be given to the academic unit from which the faculty member is selected. This stipend is to cover one class if the candidate chooses to apply for release time. This stipend can also be used to help support the candidate’s research agenda if there is no reduction in teaching load.
